Lintmeter – Tape Measure

22/08/2013      Fabrics, haberdashery and tools      20 Comments

Vandaag 2 snelle tips over lintmeters.
2 quicktips about tape measures.
I’m in love with my 2-side tape measure. One side is cm and the other in inch. I never have to convert any pattern. Isn’t that a little piece of heaven? I bought mine at Veritas years ago. It was my graduation gift. Yes I give myself present from time to time. My other gift was donating money to a project that provides schooling for girls in India. Let’s cut the chit-chat here 🙂

De tweede tip is, meet je lintmeter. Wadde?
The second tip is, measure your tape measure from time to time. Why you might ask? A tape measure is made from plastic and people pull a lot on them. So over time your tape measure can become stretched. That’s why.

I didn’t know, or rather have never thought about it, that tape measures could stretch. It makes sense though, it has just never crossed my mind. Your cm/inch one seems like a good thing to have.

But you measurement tape is “shrinked” not streched up… It’s manufacturing flaw not a usage result

My ruler ‘sits’ a bit diagonal on my tape measure in this picture. In my experience a tape measure is never 100% accurate to a ruler. I dont’t why. But that doesn’t change anything to the fact that tape measure scan stretch through usage. I don’t have any that are stretched arround the house now. The picture was just to spice up the words. 🙂
