Ik ben direct aan de slag gegaan met mijn stofjes van het Stoffenspektakel. Dit is het eerste resultaat, een leuke en vrolijke jurk.
When I was back from Stoffenspektakel I went ahead and used my fabric immediately. Today I’ll be sharing a lovely dress with you.

Stof // Fabric

Deze stof heb ik van mijn Mama gekregen. Het is een tricot stof. Dit kwam van de mooiste stand. Ik vind het echt jammer dat ze geen webshop hebben. Langs de andere kant is dat ook een pluspunt. Dan blijft het geld wat langer in mijn portefeuille zitten. Dank u Mama voor dit mooie stofje! Kijk eens wat voor een mooie jurk ik ervan gemaakt heb. Hopelijk vind je dit ook.
//This fabric was a gift from my Mom. It is a jersey fabric. This was from the prettiest stall. I’m really sad they don’t own a webshop. But on the other hand, my wallet is grateful they don’t. Thank you Mom for the lovely fabric! I hope you like the dress. I know I do.

Patroon // Pattern

Ik gebruikte weer het Renfrew patroon van Sewaholic als basis. Het blijft zo’n toppertje! Ik heb het al meerdere keren gebruikt. Hier kan je al mijn Renfrew jurken zien.

Aanpassingen // Adjustments

Ook deze keer ‘plakte’ ik een rok eraan. De vorige keer met plooi’tjes, nu zonder. Het patroon was al erg druk. Plooi’tje toevoegd zou een beetje ’te’ zijn.
Ik heb een taille band toegevoegd. Dit geeft iets meer taille. Alleen is het in deze stof wat verloren moeite. Je kan het amper zien doordat dit zo druk is. Ach ja, het helpt wel om de juiste plek te vinden voor mijn riem. Bij een volgende jurk met dit patroon ga ik het waarschijnlijk weer doen. Het geeft best een mooi effect, wanneer het niet verloren gaat.
Ik heb de taille band verstevigd met rekbare vlieseline. Jep het bestaat. Het is ook niet zo moeilijk te vinden. De meeste winkels waar je naaigerief kan kopen hebben dit.
De manchetten heb ik smaller gemaakt. Ik wou ze eigenlijk weglaten. Naar goede gewoonte besliste ik het iets te laat. De mouw was al uitgeknipt. Zonder manchetten zouden de mouwen net een beetje te kort zijn. Dat heb ik al heel mijn leven meegemaakt. De “voordelen” van groot zijn. Nu ik mijn eigen kleding maakt moet het passen, en de mouwen moeten dus ook voldoende lang zijn.
// I added a skirt to this top, otherwise the title of this post would be very wrong. I didn’t add pleats this time. There is so much going on in the fabric, I don’t think it would have added anything. 
I did added a waistband. But this was a waist of time. You can hardly see it because the pattern is so busy. I do think it gives and extra pop to many dress. I will be adding it in the future again, but probably only when I’m using this pattern with solids.
I reinforced the wiastband with strech interfacing. It shouldn’t be hard to find. Most haberdasheries should carry it. 
The cuffs are only half the size of the orginal. While I was sewing I thought about dropping then, but then the sleeves would be too short. I’m tall to I’ve been wearing clothes with sleeves that are too short for whole my life. So now I make my own clothes I’m so pleased I have sleeves that are perfect. I did had to add the cuffs, but I made them smaller.

The Doctor

Hoe cool zou dat zijn! Jammer genoeg zal ik het moeten doen met deze Tardis van op F.A.C.T.S. Ik kon toch even wegdromen toen ik de Tardis zag. Al weet ik natuurlijk dat Rose altijd een speciaal plekje in het hart van The Doctor zal blijven hebben. *Zucht* Ik ben een paar weken geleden beginnen te kijken naar Doctor Who. Zoals bij vele fans is mijn hart nog steeds gebroken het epische afscheid. Zo emotioneel, zo schoon geacteerd. En vooral zo’n zalige serie. Ik vermoed dat de meeste Harry Potter fans ook van Doctor Who zullen houden. Dus zeker bekijken die handel.
// I wish, how cool would that be! But no, all I’ll get is this amazing Tardis. This picture is taken at F.A.C.T.S. I was a dreamy moment. Of course I know I’ll never be able to replace Rose. But still, one adventure with the Doctor would be amazing. I only started watching Doctor Who recently. And I’m still heartbroken by the epic goodbye. So sad,… But if you’re looking for a great show. This is it! If you like Harry Potter you’ll probably like Doctor Who too. So check it out!

  8. Oh how I LOVED Rose too… I am a big Dr Who fan and jealous you are standing in front of the Tardis. It WOULD be most fun to go on one adventure! I have been on the lookout for Dr Who fabric but no luck so far. Your dress is beautiful. The floral print is just gorgeous too! ~Laurie

  9. Great dress, a perfect modification of the Renfrew. Wonderful colours in the fabric too, just what is needed during the darker months. And I kove your mustard tights.
    (and I don’t get any Dr. Who references, I’ve never watched it)

  13. This is awesome! I’ve been thinking of making the Renfrew into a dress for a while now but just haven’t got around to it and don’t quite have enough yardage of any knits that would suit it.
    Also – not sure if it was intentional, but in case it wasn’t “this was a waist of time” should be spelt waste. I love the pun anyway 😀

    • Thanks, I made this dress out of 1.8 meter, or that was it before I washed. I didn’t measure if afterwards.
      And waist was intended 😉 Maybe I should at some of ’these’ things to make it stand out more. What are they called? Can’t seem to remember. And oh, sometimes I use seam when it should be seem. I’m a sewing geek
