Probably you’ve allready spotted this dress. 2 years have passed since I started working on my Danielle dress.And now it’s finally done. The dress has been nearly finished for a long time. I only needed a hem and some buttons.
Het knopenpad op mijn jurk is nep. Ik trek de jurk over mijn hoofd aan. Dit gaat er makkelijk. Ik wou een echt knopenpad van maken tot ik dacht hoe vaak ik zit te sukkelen om die knopen dan mooi dicht te krijgen. Eerst zaten er 5 knopen, maar na een eerste feestje bleven er nog maar 3 over. Ik heb geen extra stof meer. Ik zal mijn knopen collectie eens kritisch moeten bestuderen om waardige vervanging te vinden.
The buttons on the back aren’t an actual closure. I pop the dress over my head to get in and out. No fuss with zips or buttons. There were 5 buttons, but I lost 2 on the first party I wore this dress to. I don’t have any extra fabric to make new ones. I will replace them with others somewhere in the near future. I won’t take another year, I promise.
Het patroon is de Danielle jurk #9306 van Burdastyle. Een gratis patroon, jihaa. Ik heb het patroon redelijk goed gevolgd. Ik heb geen sluiting op de rug, en ik heb de mouwen weg gelaten. Het is wel een beetje te groot, en ik hebt de juiste maar getekend. Ofwel ben ik vermagerd in de tussentijd. Ik zal het op het laatste houden. Het is een goed patroon voor beginners.
The pattern I used is the Danielle dress #9306 by Burdastyle. It is a freebie, yihaa. I made few alterations, no backclosure and I made it sleeveless. It is a bit too big. But I don’t really know if it is because the size isn’t right, or because I lost some weight since I started this dress. I like to take the second one as the reason. It is a good pattern for beginners.
Ik heb de jurk ondertussen al een paar keren gedragen, maar ik ben er nog niet van overtuigd. Eerlijk is eerlijk, ik voel me dik in deze jurk, hoewel ik veel complimentjes krijg als ik ze draag. De stof blijft constant aan mijn kousenbroeken plakken waardoor de rok opbolt. Dus hopelijk is het beter zonder kousenbroek. Laat de zon maar komen. Ik weet niet of ik nog eens een jurk van dit patroon ga maken. Even wachten tot de kousenbroek-vrije periode om te beoordelen.
I wore the dress a few times, but I don’t know if I like the dress. To be fair I feel fat in this dress. Although many people tell me they really like the dress on me. The fabric sticks only my thighs, which makes it very onflatering. So I’m waiting for warm weather. Maybe I will feel better in this dress without thights.

De vorm, de kleur… perfect! Ik heb Danielle nog niet gemaakt, maar ik ben al jaren van plan deze te naaien.
Zeker doen, maar als je ‘m met plooien maakt zou ik een iets flexibelere stof gebruiken dan mij. Ik heb het gevoel dat het te stijf is om mooi te zijn. Hopelijk brengt de wasmachine verbetering.
I made this dress a long time ago but the pleats were very unflattering on me, I salvaged the fabric and made the Jenny skirt instead 🙂

It was both the sew-a-long and moving to a new place that made me finish it. Whil going through my stuff I found the dress, but the fact I did it now is all because of the sew-a-long. My second dress will be finished late, probably by sunday. I’m having crazy days at work.
Yay! My work has been crazy too so I haven’t done much sewing this month. I have almost finished a skirt and started my cardi…for the host I am quite far behind! 🙂
I really like the colour and back buttons. I’ve made three versions of the Danielle (one dress, two tops) and I can understand your feelings about it. Let’s hope it gets better without tights.
Maybe I’ll make it without the pleat the next time. I also think the fabric is to stiff for te pleats. Maybe after a few washes it will get better.
Prachtige kleur! Hopelijk ga je hem toch nog liever dragen, altijd zonde als dat niet is bij een zelfgemaakte jurk! (ik zou zeggen, stuur hem op, maar weinig kans dat die voor mij past ;-))
Ik hoop dat de kousenbroek vrije periode en een paar keer wassen verbetering brengt 🙂 En anders zal ik jou maten eens vragen 🙂 btw, ik heb het gevoel dat wij helemaal niet ver van elkaar wonen.
Heel leuk hoor, niet twijfelen! Ook dat kleur staat je goed, ziet er me ook wel een perfect jurkje uit voor de zonnige dagen (zonder kousenbroek)! Ikzelf heb nog geen jurkjes gemaakt, alleen rokken (beginfase), maar als ik dit zie heb ik wel zin om het eens te proberen! Groetjes

Bedankt hoor, ik laat je zeker ooit het resultaat zien van die eerste jurk, nu nog eerst een aantal rokjes maken (voor mezelf en dochter) waarvoor ik speciaal stofjes kocht op Stoffenspektakel 😉
I wonder if a slip would help the dress feel more comfortable?
I have a dress that gets me compliments every time I wear it but when I look in the mirror I don’t like it. Since I am not around mirrors all day I wear it anyway.

It is an easy dress to make, but I would use a flowy fabric. I think my fabric is to stiff for this dress. The back isn’t a perfect fit for me. I never had this problem with any burda pattern. I think it would be usefull to make a muslin of the top part of the dress.
