Cars Blankie

Mijn petekindje verjaarde afgelopen week. Dat hij zot is van Cars weet iedereen. Een zacht knuffeldekentje van Cars zal hij leuk vinden dacht ik. Blijkbaar was ik juist. Het was een grote hit. Zo groot zelf dat de aanwezig kinderen gingen spelen alsof ze gingen slapen en samen onder de deken kropen.

De zoektocht naar gepaste stof begon. Bij de Stoffemiekes hebben ze mij goed geholpen. Ik kreeg veel tips, maar op die adressen vond ik geen mooie Cars stof. Hoe moeilijk is het om een schoon stofke te maken van een tekenfilm dacht ik. Na heel veel google’n kwam ik uit bij kidsfabrics.nl. Daar bestelde ik deze leuke stof.

How hard is it to make lovely fabric from a cartoon? Luckely I bumped into kidsfabrics.nl. They carry a lot of Cars fabric. I chose this lovely fabric.

Na deze overwinning was de zoektocht nog niet voorbij. 2 dagen voor het feestje moet ik nog fleece vinden. Ik heb geen auto dus, even naar Kapellen rijden was geen optie. Ik fietste heel Antwerpen door op zoek naar mooie fleece om het uiteindelijk om mijn hoek te vinden bij Stoffen Joëlle. Maar ik weet waarom ik deze winkel bij overgeslagen had. Een hele tijd terug heb ik er stof gekocht. En wie de winkel kent weet dat het daar niet de goedkoopste stoffen zijn. Erg behulpzaam was het personeel ook niet. Als ik iets vroeg werd er eerst gerold met de ogen, gezucht en dan kon het er vanaf. Ik vermoed dat ik daarom na deze ervaring er nooit meer binnen ben gestapt. Toen terug naar huis fietste zag ik de winkel in mijn ooghoek, en bedacht met dat er nu nieuwe eigenaars zijn. Dus gaf ik het een nieuwe kans, en wat een verademing. Het personeel is er super en ze hebben veel kleuren fleece.
Het enige dat vlot ging was de paspel. Die heb ik zelf gemaakt, al moet ik toegeven dat ik biais gekocht heb.
Zijn zus wil nu graag eentje voor haar communie met prinsessen die paarden zitten. Die stof vinden zal waarschijnlijk nog een grotere uitdaging zijn. Gelukkig heb ik nog tijd tot Mei. Als je tips hebt, laat maar horen.

So I thought let’s give it a try. They carry a lot of colours, it is super soft, and the new staff is just great!
The only thing that was easy, was finding the binding. I made it myself. Although I have to admit I did buy biaistape.
Now his older sisters also want a blankie. But she would like the have one with princessen riding horses. I’m pretty sure that will be even harder to find then Cars fabric. Luckely I have time till May. Any tips?
