Ok, didn’t go quite yet. Had some health problems that I’m recovering from and trying to figure out how to adjust my overlocker. I am making some knit dresses for the first time using the overlocker and it is not working out. It’s fine when I use wovens to finish a seam, but not with the stretch fabrics to make a seam.
Oh, I hope you are feeling better now? I’ve been ill for a long time last year, so I know how hard it is. Hopefully you’ll recover quickly. And for the serger issue, when I use a new fabric I take the guide by my side and try untill it work fine on scrap fabric, and believe me, it can looooong time in the beginning. I’m sure you’ll figure it out.
so is the book complete /comprehensive enough to study about fabrics? Since synthetic and mineral fabrics aren’t included in that book..
Oh, and also, is there any information about how fibres are processed to make fabrics? like weave technique, etc. Thank you 🙂
It is a great book to study natural fibres because of the swatches. You don’t just read about it but you can also feel it. There is also a chapter about how fabric is made. There are more pictures on the publishers website: http://vimeo.com/andrewyamato/videos And soon they will release a new book with also man-made fabrics: http://www.laurenceking.com/en/fabric-for-fashion-the-complete-guide/ This one is without swatches. I love this book because of the swatches you can learn so much about fabric. So just take your time to decide which one you will buy.
Wonderful idea! Great book!
Thanks! I really enjoy this book. Couldn’t live without it 🙂
I need that book!
You do, it is a life changer 🙂
I’ll put it on my Sinterklaas list 🙂 Yes, I still get those because I’m a good girl 🙂
Not fair 🙁
Naast de kwestie, maar jij lijkt dus echt als twee druppels water op een nicht van mij 🙂
grappig 🙂
Oh, I”m in love with this book!!! Even though I don’t own it….yet! Off to the bookstore now.
Haha, did you find it?
